Glen Tennant flies his Dracan

A group of Hanky Planky fliers were impressed today by the successful maiden flight of Glen Tennant’s version of the Terry Anderson’s Dracan. This was originally described as “an easy to build canard based on his popular Hanky Planky, which was previously featured as a pull-out plan in RCM&E”.
There was much speculation on the likely flying qualities of this unusual configuration. The launch phase looked very lively and there was a sharp intake of breath when it rapidly rolled inverted going down wind, but Glen regained control and executed a go-around followed by a faultless landing.

Let’s hope we see more details of this model in a future edition of the Flypaper.

Is there an expression of relief on Glen’s face in this post-flight portrait?
