The Ashurst contest season closes
The RES (Rudder, Elevator and Spoiler, 2m span) and eCaprice contests proved popular social as well as flying events this year. Although the 6 contest series was reduced to 4 contests by the weather conditions, it produced four excellent days flying and was well attended. Flying was competitive and of high quality, but beginners were welcomed and were assisted as necessary.
In the eCaprice series, there was some attrition of the delicate models of traditional tissue and balsa construction.
The 2025 RES competition: Clive Upperton was the overall winner, John Ivory was in second place and Colin Lucas 3rd.
The 2025 eCaprice competition: John Ivory was the overall winner, Clive Upperton was in second place and Robin Strange 3rd.

Derek Woodley’s model had a lucky escape, landing itself inverted but undamaged after the channels became scrambled.

These contests were also enjoyable social events.
